This was a unique and fun experience for us on the day we were celebrating our daughter’s birthday and wanted to do something memorable. Chris stayed close and made sure we were safe working with such extremely hot materials. It was difficult, but fun to start to learn this new skill which gives you an appreciation for how hard this hand made craft can be and how organic the process is and how the final outcome is a unique piece you created. Also would recommend purchasing the upgrades of dichroic glass and more detailed and involved shapes.

Fun and unique glass experience
We had a great time creating our glass paperweight at Chris’ studio in Davenport. Lots of cool colors to choose from. Decided on the scramble rather than the ribbon pattern and with keeping the air bubbles inside (apparently you can work them out, but we think the air bubbles add character), and we’re so happy with how ours turned out. It was just the two of us in the class, and the entire session took about an hour. Chris and Tyler are super nice. Patient with teaching and very knowledgeable. Thanks so much for a fabulous experience!

Participated in a really fun class here. You got to choose from an outer glass shape, internal glass structure, and colors. The instructors helped us along the way. I felt very safe despite working with some very hot glass. It was very hands-on and very fun!

Loved taking a class here! Everyone was super friendly and we had a great time. There was on person at our time slot who needed some accommodations and they were SO inclusive it was just wonderful to see!

We were very involved in the entire process from start-to-finish, unlike at another glass place we visited where we were really didn’t do much. I can’t wait to see our finished products!

This was the MOST fun and creative thing I’ve done in a while. I could literally do this every week. The instructor and assistant very clearly walked through all of the steps in detail and they were always there guiding you from station to station beginning to end. Very safe and a great experience all the way around.

After trying a few glass experiences here myself, I brought my 14 year old for a glass experience. Love the hands-on aspect and the enthusiastic owner and helpful young apprentices make it a fun experience. They share their love of the craft, while safely teaching you how to create small hot glass art projects. We picked up our glass hearts and paper weights the next day after they cooled down. Great way to create memories–and glass objects.

A fun, interesting, and creative experience for us. We loved it! The staff was very nice, gave us lots of information, and helped us feel safe and confident. We chose to make hearts and we love them. The experience was a fantastic gift from our kids. Highly recommend this.

It was so fun to create memories with my girlfriend for our anniversary and take home personalized gifts for each other! Both our pieces came out better than i was expecting and it was really just mesmerizing and so much fun.

We took the beginning to glass blowing class. It was a great experience. The class was small and very well taught. We made one egg and one paper weight. I would recommend for date night.

I got this for my son’s 21st birthday present in September. My son and I both thought it was a blast. I was super glad that Chris helped me as much as he did because I had a difficult time absorbing the verbal instructions given beforehand. I only had a couple bucks to tip them in the jar so I was glad it was an option on the card machine because what they are doing deserves a tip in my opinion.

It was such a unique and fun experience! If the weekend is coming up and you don’t know what to do, I highly recommend signing up for this. It’s in Santa Cruz/Capitola, so make it a day trip and grab a bite at the beach after! You won’t regret it!

Took the family to the Hot Glass Experience. Everyone had fun learning about the process of working with glass. Chris was a great teacher and did a great job keeping everyone safe while handling super hot glass.

Tyler is a very knowledgeable, patient teacher who takes great pride in sharing his art as does Chris Johnson who also graciously answered questions from my younger grandson who was able to observe us from a safe distance. The hands-on experience was fabulous-safety always emphasized during the entire process. I highly recommend taking a class for a memorable experience!

We had an absolutely incredible time as a couple at Chris Johnson Glass in Davenport during their glass-blowing workshop. We highly recommend this workshop to anyone seeking a unique and unforgettable experience.

Glass making is a must-try. It’s such an intricate process that is super cool to see and try for yourself! The studio provides a variety of options of glass objects you could create (with the option of more difficult shapes for an up-charge) and so many different colors you could choose to incorporate into your glass piece (also with the option of color upgrades). It was a great learning and creative experience and I’m excited about taking home a beautiful piece!

Chris Johnson’s Hot Glass Experience is a lot of fun! We were a group of 10 and they thankfully were able to accommodate us. Chris and the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. We would love to come back!

My husband and I thought it would be fun to make ornaments for Christmas gifts this year. Chris was awesome, and helped us every step of the way. It was a lot of fun and a great experience. I’ll definitely come back to make something else soon.

My two kids (14 and 12) did the “Hot Glass Experience” this weekend. The teaching was great, they had a wonderful time and want to come back and do this again.

Chris and his helper, Bob, were wonderful…very safety conscious and thorough in their instructions before starting. All that aside, what a wonderful experience we had learning all bout glass blowing and all the intricacies involved in the making! As Chris will tell you, there’s no ‘fails’ only learning and growth and our own masterpieces are something we’ll treasure for a lifetime❣️ We absolutely loved our host, Chris, and the entire experience is something I think everyone should try at least once in your lifetime…young, old or in-between, I promise you’ll enjoy your time❣️
